4/2/2017 fishing report


Well spring has sprung and those of you who are looking to break out the the rods and get on the water, i will provide you with a real fishing report. I'm going to attempt to keep this a regular thing.

The lower columbia is not fishing at all. To date 53 chinook have been checked in. Water is high and muddy. Roosevelt is slow now but should pick up soon. Its going to be a rainbow show for a while. Orange crush and Flame orange are hot. Walleye in the spokane arm is hot. Black and blues are going strong with a slow death hook and worm. Chalan is heating up. South end fishing is good. Rock lake is still hot for steelhead and browns. Lake cour d alene is flooding but I hear there are fish to catch. There is a derby this weekend so I will report back with lake conditions. Hayden lake is hot and loaded with with kokanee. Pink uv will provide quick limits. Lake pend oreille is slow and water is murkey. South end and mid lake is fishing ok. Put your hours in. Purples, Ponderay, black ice and firetiger on the surface and 80-100' feet are producing. Lucky peak is starting to heat up for kokanee. Pink uv and valantine behind chrome superdodger have been good. Salmon dam is giving up trout. reds and white seem to be the ticket. Get out and go fish!
